# THE DATA REVOLUTION

IS HERE.

# NOW

WE JUST NEED TO

TEACH IT.

# <

# This site

# is a growing

# collection of resources, organizations, and people working to make data science, stats, and modelling

# a part of K-12.

##### So what needs to change?

# The math we teach needs an update.

#### The math we require in our K-12 education system is out of sync with our everyday technology.

#### The Algebra I-Geometry-Algebra II sequence, often referred to as the "geometry sandwich," was originally created to prepare our students for the Space Race in the 1950s.

#### Some things have changed since then.

# And a lot of people are writing about it:

# And talking about it:

# And implementing it:

###### Oregon

The Oregon Math Project is planning to add data science to their 2 + 1 Model, both in the core sequence and as an elective pathway.

###### California

In California, the revised 2021 Mathematics Framework for statewide math standards will include data science through all of K-12.

###### Ohio

The Charles A. Dana Center is currently working with Ohio to develop alternatives to Algebra II, including the potential for data science.

###### HS Course

The Introduction to Data Science course is a high school elective that has been taught in classrooms nationally for 5+ years.

Taught

nationally in:

26 districts

&

65 schools

and counting.

We should be

teaching math as if

computers existed.
